In this prototype, Joe has got nearly all of the moves he has in the final version of the game. The only move missing is his off the wall jump. His running animation isn't quite as complete as the final version either. But he also has several moves in this prototype not seen in the final version, and some which probably weren't in the original version either.

DIVE SLICE

If you have collected a power-up item, press the jump button and then hold down and press the attack button. Instead of doing a dive kick, Joe will draw out his sword.

FLIP ATTACK

This is a move is quite difficult to get working. If Joe is facing right, do a quarter circle motion starting from left and ending with down and then press C and Joe should do this move. If you do it right, it can kill enemies. If you can't do it, view this to see what it would have looked like -thanks to Ragey for the GIF.

SWINGING

If you grab onto any ceiling and hold down the jump button, Joe will start swinging for some reason. I don't know what this is supposed to do.

Ninjitsu

There are two types of each ninjitsu in this prototype -a normal one, then a stronger one which you can use by collecting a power-up item. The powered-up ninjitsu attacks may have been cut from the original version, as no magazine I have makes any mention of them.

JITSU OF IKAZUCHI
Normal
Powered-up
This ninjitsu is a shield. The powered-up version is stronger, allowing Joe to take more hits.

JITSU OF KARIU
Normal
Powered-up
The normal version of this consists of Joe summoning four fireballs, which spin around him and then the screen. The powered-up version has him summon 4 fire dragons, like in the final game.

JITSU OF FUSHIN
Normal
Powered-up
Joe will just raise his sword for a second for the normal version of the ninjitsu. The powered-up version has some clones of Joe briefly appear, as they move to the left and right and eventually off the screen.

JITSU OF HAKURIU
Normal
Powered-up
This normal version of this ninjitsu attack -which was removed from the final game -has Joe summon four small ice crystals, which combine into a larger one and shoot off the screen. The powered-up one has the screen go blue, as several ice dragons fly past Joe.

JITSU OF MIJIN
Normal
Powered-up
This ninjitsu hasn't been completed yet, as Joe will simply and hilariously just split into pieces for either version of the attack. When Joe comes back together again, the power-up version has a ton of garbage sprites briefly appear on the screen.
