Synopsis
Botan tells Yusuke that Koenma is sending an investigator to see how he is doing. Sure enough, the investigator, Sayaka, appears. She explains that if the people around Yusuke aren't seriously delighted about him coming back to life, there's no real meaning for him to do so, and monitors Keiko for a while. After seeing what kind of person she is at school, they later see her cleaning up a bunch of trash at Yusuke's home (Atsuko has gone out). Keiko then leaves. |
But not long after this, an arsonist sets fire to Yusuke's home. With trash still everywhere, it quickly catches fire and Yusuke's body is in danger of being destroyed. Keiko, having heard about the fire and where it is, runs back and bravely enters the house. She is able to get to Yusuke and tries to get out, only to find that the flames have spread and blocked off the exit. Sayaka tells Yusuke there is a way he can save Keiko: by throwing the Spirit Realm beast egg into the fire. Doing so will make it impossible for him to return to life. With no other options, Yusuke throws the egg, which causes the flames to part and let Keiko escape. |
Kuwabara arrives and helps Keiko, and is shocked to discover that she has Yusuke's body. They head away, and Keiko explains to Kuwabara what's happening with Yusuke. Later on, Yusuke despairs over what's going to happen to him now, only for an image of Koenma to appear. Koenma tells him that he's much better than he thought, and has decided to return him to life. He reveals another egg, which he says he will keep with him. As his image disappears, Botan excitedly congratulates Yusuke and swings him around. |
-Sayaka isn't a Spirit Realm investigator in the manga, she's from one of the manga exclusive stories (see the previous episode). In the anime they decided to feature her, but changed her back story so she's someone sent by Koenma. |
-The art style for this episode often makes the characters look very chibi-like, especially for the main cast. Things return to normal in the next episode. |
